Fear

(Brian Holmes)
"Fear"

Now they surround me and I can't break free.
I can't look in their faces or they'll control me.
The circle that they form slowly rotates as they move,
First left, then right, in the rhythm of my life.

Hand in hand we go round and round,
In the center you stand, eyes closed and head down.
All that you feel is our voice as we sing and the air that we stir
And the faces we were.

I won't look up, I won't open my eyes.
You were so far away, far away.
Why do you approach me now?
Why do you disturb my now?
These crazy hazy days.

Oh how I fear them and their numbers grow.
But their circle isn't larger, it begins to close.
And their voices growing louder and a violent wind swirls.
And they lift me away, and I'm forced from today.

Hand in hand we go round and round,
In the center you stand, eyes closed and head down.
All that you feel is our voice as we sing and the air that we stir
And the faces we were.

The tighter that I close my eyes, the brighter they become.
We're almost touching now, touching now.
I'm terrified of leaving here. I'm terrified of there.
The ghosts have gathered today.
